Split large CSV files into smaller parts by rows per file or target file count. Includes header replication, chunk preview, and 1-click Download All as ZIP.
Upload your CSV or paste raw text to partition into smaller files.
Large Comma-Separated Values (CSV) files containing hundreds of thousands of records frequently exceed the file size and row upload limits imposed by business software, cloud services, and spreadsheet applications. For example:
Splitting large datasets manually is tedious, prone to human error, and risks corrupting multiline quoted strings or losing column header rows. An automated, client-side CSV splitter provides an essential data preparation utility.

ZechKit CSV Splitter implements two distinct partitioning modes:
#### A. Rows-Per-File Partitioning The user specifies a maximum row capacity \(R\) per chunk (e.g., 5,000 rows per file). Given a total dataset row count \(N\):
$$K = \left\lceil \frac{N}{R} \right\rceil \quad \text{(Total Generated Chunks)}$$
Chunk \(j \in [1, K]\) encompasses the slice of rows from 0-based start index \(S_j = (j-1)R\) to end index \(E_j = \min(jR, N)\).
#### B. Target File Count Partitioning The user specifies a target number of output files \(M\) (e.g., divide evenly into 4 parts). The optimal chunk size \(R_{\text{opt}}\) is calculated as:
$$R_{\text{opt}} = \left\lceil \frac{N}{M} \right\rceil$$
Rows are distributed evenly across the \(M\) files, ensuring balanced file sizes for parallel processing across multiple worker threads or team members.
A major pitfall of naive line-splitting utilities (like Unix split -l) is that only the first chunk receives the column header row, leaving all subsequent files headerless and unimportable by spreadsheet programs.
Our engine automatically extracts the original column header row \(\mathbf{H} = (h_1, h_2, \dots, h_C)\) and prepends it to the beginning of every single generated split chunk. This guarantees that each split file is a 100% self-contained, valid RFC 4180 CSV document ready for immediate import into any spreadsheet or database application.
Furthermore, naive line-based splitters corrupt CSV files when cells contain embedded multiline newlines (e.g., address fields with carriage returns). Because our engine performs true lexical parsing, multiline cell values are preserved within their proper row without splitting across chunk boundaries.
Downloading 10 or 20 individual CSV files manually through browser download prompts is slow, tedious, and often blocked by web browser popup safety blockers.
ZechKit CSV Splitter integrates an automated in-browser ZIP Archive Compression Pipeline:
[OriginalName]_part_001.csv, [OriginalName]_part_002.csv, etc..zip archive for 1-click download.Processing massive CSV files containing hundreds of thousands of rows requires strict memory management to avoid exceeding browser V8 heap limits.
Our splitter uses chunked streaming parsing. Rather than duplicating the entire uncompressed dataset in redundant memory arrays, slices are referenced and formatted directly into lightweight Blob pointers, enabling smooth splitting of 50MB+ datasets in modern browsers without freezing the UI thread.
Payroll records, customer contact databases, and financial exports must remain strictly confidential. Uploading proprietary corporate files to remote splitting websites introduces serious security risks and GDPR/HIPAA compliance violations.
ZechKit CSV Splitter runs 100% locally in your web browser. No files, rows, or metadata are ever transmitted over the network, ensuring complete confidentiality, zero latency, and absolute data privacy.
Scenario: A marketing manager needs to upload 50,000 leads to an email tool that only accepts 10,000 rows per upload.
50,000-row CSV file (leads_master.csv, 6.2 MB)
5 split CSV files of 10,000 rows each in a single ZIP download
Set split mode to '10,000 rows per file' with header inclusion, generating 5 clean ready-to-import files in 2 seconds.
