JSON Formatter, Validator & Tree Inspector

Defined under IETF RFC 8259 and ECMA-404, JSON is a strict, lightweight text serialization format built on two fundamental structures: ordered collections of values (arrays [...]) and unordered collections of key-value pairs (objects {...}). Unlike loose JavaScript object literals, standard JSON enforces rigid formatting rules:

• Double Quoted Strings: All object keys and string literals must use double quotation marks ("key"). Single quotes ('key') and unquoted keys trigger immediate parsing exceptions.
• Strict Value Types: Permitted value types are limited to strings, numbers (without leading zeros or hex notation), booleans (true/false), null, objects, and arrays. Functions, undefined, and Symbol primitives are forbidden.
• No Trailing Commas: Commas must strictly separate elements. Placing a trailing comma after the final key-value pair or array item violates the grammar.

When inspecting massive API responses spanning thousands of lines, standard text editors can overwhelm developers. The interactive tree viewer converts parsed JSON Abstract Syntax Trees into collapsible DOM nodes. Each branch displays item counts for arrays and key totals for objects, allowing developers to isolate specific nested properties, trace deeply nested relationships up to 20+ depth levels, and execute real-time substring searches across both keys and values without freezing the UI.

Formatting JSON with 2-space or 4-space indentation enhances human readability during debugging and code reviews. Conversely, minification eliminates all non-essential whitespace, line breaks, and indentation tabs. For production API responses, minification reduces payload size by 30% to 50%, speeding up network transfer times and lowering bandwidth consumption across distributed microservices.
