The Instagram mobile app's text rendering engine automatically strips consecutive newline characters (`
), merging paragraphs together. To create clean, breathable paragraph breaks, creators historically resorted to messy placeholder symbols (like dots ., dashes -`, or emojis).
Our formatter replaces empty line breaks with special invisible Unicode characters (such as the Braille Blank character U+2800 or Zero-Width Space U+200B). Because the Instagram parser perceives these characters as valid typographical content, it renders a full empty visual line without displaying visible filler symbols.
Standard HTML tags (<b>, <i>) do not function in Instagram captions. To style text with bold, italic, or cursive formatting, the formatter converts standard alphanumeric ASCII characters into Unicode Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols (e.g. converting A $\rightarrow$ 𝐀 or 𝘈). These special Unicode glyphs are supported natively across modern iOS and Android operating systems, allowing you to highlight key phrases in bios and captions without third-party apps.
